Data centres are highly energy intensive and account for about 1% of the world’s electricity use. Alone in 2019, 200 new centres were built. 40% of the power use is required for the cooling of the equipment. Microsoft, Google, Amazon and the like are transitioning to renewable energy sources to power their data centres.
Exowave is an ideal technology to be combined with them. Firstly, the pressurized, filtered seawater could replace the inefficient air cooling. Secondly, wave energy could supply data centres with green electricity, reducing emissions while at the same time substantially reducing the operational costs.
